What If I Miss a Session?

Plans change, so here is exactly how cancellations work and why showing up consistently carries real weight in treatment.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, let the office know at least 24 hours before your appointment. A late cancellation or a missed session may be charged the scheduled session rate, and that charge is not billed to insurance. Current rates are on the Rates and Insurance page. Cost aside, regular attendance matters because each session builds on the one before it, and gaps make the work harder to keep moving.

The Policy

How to Cancel or Reschedule

  1. Look Ahead

Check the coming week for conflicts with work, school or family, so problems surface early instead of the morning of a session.

  2. Give 24 Hours' Notice

Call (405) 205-6314 or reach the office through the Contact page at least 24 hours before the appointment.

  3. Keep the Message Brief

Voicemail and email are not secure, so leave only your name, a number to reach you and the appointment you need to change.

  4. Set a New Time

Ask for a new appointment right away so the gap between sessions stays short.

What a Late Cancellation Can Cost

Cancelling with less than 24 hours' notice, or not showing up at all, may lead to a charge equal to the scheduled session rate. That charge is not sent to your insurance plan, so it falls to you. This guide leaves out dollar figures; the Rates and Insurance page lists current session rates.

If you are unsure whether a conflict will keep you from a session, call as soon as you know about it rather than waiting to see how the day goes. Early notice keeps your options open.

Why Steady Attendance Matters

Skills such as emotional regulation, impulse control and decision-making take practice, and practical assignments are most useful when you come back to talk through how they went. Individual sessions are often scheduled twice a week, so missing one leaves a longer stretch between conversations.

Progress is reviewed over time, and the plan adjusts based on what those reviews show. Steady attendance gives each review an accurate picture to work from. Group members carry an extra responsibility: in the adult group, consistent attendance is an expectation of membership, and in the youth group, regular attendance sits alongside respect and the group rules.

Attendance is a choice too, and Mr. Omar's words apply: "The choices you make dictate the life you live."

Ways to Protect Your Session Time

  • Put each appointment in your phone with a reminder the day before.
  • Arrange rides, child care or time off before the week begins.
  • For telehealth, charge your device and have a private spot ready a few minutes early.
  • If your work or school schedule changes, call the office as soon as you know.
  • If getting to sessions keeps getting harder, say so in session instead of letting appointments slip.
  • Parents and guardians who manage a teen's appointments should plan around the same 24 hour rule.

Questions About Missed Sessions

What counts as a late cancellation?

Any cancellation or reschedule made with less than 24 hours' notice before the appointment time.

Can insurance cover a late cancellation charge?

No. Charges for late cancellations and missed sessions are not billed to insurance.

Will my probation officer hear that I missed a session?

Information goes to a probation officer, court or caseworker only with your signed consent, so ask what your consent covers. How they view a missed session, and whether they accept your treatment, is their decision.
