Paying for Treatment: Insurance, Medicaid or Private Pay

Sorting out payment before the assessment lets you put your attention on treatment rather than on billing questions.

Five insurance plans are accepted today: Humana, Oklahoma Complete Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Ambetter and HealthChoice, and the practice is also Medicaid approved. Aetna is coming back soon. You can also pay privately by card. Prices are not listed in this guide; the Rates and Insurance page shows them. Coverage differs between plans, so check your benefits with the office before your first paid appointment.

Accepted Plans

Insurance the Practice Accepts Today

These are the plans on the accepted list right now:

  • Humana
  • Oklahoma Complete Health, part of Oklahoma's Medicaid program
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)
  • Ambetter
  • HealthChoice

If You Have Medicaid

The practice is Medicaid approved, and Oklahoma Complete Health, which is part of Oklahoma's Medicaid program, is on the accepted list. If you are not sure which plan manages your benefits, keep your member card in hand when you call and confirm your coverage with the office before you schedule the assessment.

Parents and guardians of a teen in youth services can bring the teen's coverage information to the first conversation with the office and ask what applies to their situation.

Paying Without Insurance

Some clients pay out of pocket because they have no coverage, because their plan is not on the list, or because they would rather not use insurance for treatment. The practice takes Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.

Current private pay prices are posted on the Rates and Insurance page. Check there before your assessment so the numbers you plan around are current, and ask the office about anything on that page you do not understand.

How to Confirm Your Benefits

  1. Find Your Card

Have your insurance or Medicaid member card ready, front and back, before you call.

  2. Match the Plan Name

Compare the plan name on the card with the accepted list on this page.

  3. Call the Office

Call (405) 205-6314 and ask the office to confirm what your plan covers before the assessment.

  4. Write Down the Answer

Note what you will owe per session, if anything, so there are no surprises once regular sessions begin.

Questions to Ask Before the First Session

Have these ready when you talk with the office or your plan:

  • Is my exact plan on the accepted list, and is my coverage active?
  • What will I owe for the assessment, and for each session after it?
  • Does my plan cover group sessions as well as individual sessions?
  • Does my plan require a referral or prior approval before treatment starts?
  • Which charges are never billed to insurance?
  • Which cards can I use for anything I owe?

Where Financial Responsibilities Come In

The 1 to 2 hour assessment covers more than your history. It also includes intake paperwork, treatment goals, program expectations, session frequency and your financial responsibilities, so you know what you are agreeing to before regular sessions begin.

Session frequency matters when you plan a budget. Individual sessions are often scheduled twice a week, and the schedule is set at the assessment based on your needs and progress. Ask how that schedule works out under your plan.

One cost never goes through insurance. A late cancellation or a missed session may be charged at the scheduled session rate, and you pay that charge yourself.

Payment Questions

Does the free consultation cost anything?

No. The 20 to 30 minute consultation has no charge and no commitment, so nothing is billed to you or to your plan.

What about Aetna?

Aetna is coming back soon. Until it returns, ask the office about private pay or any other coverage you have on the accepted list.

My plan is not on the list. Can I still start?

Yes, as a private pay client. Current prices are on the Rates and Insurance page, and the office can answer questions before you commit.
